Once an illegalista, always an illegalista: Rommel Ynion and the road encroachment

Despite the notices of violation for illegal encroachment of almost 2 meters of city road, specifically Duran and Sto. Rosario Streets for his Bali Hotel, master illegalista Mafioso Rommel “Utangero” Ynion still has not done anything about the fence.

He himself  has recognized his illegal construction by issuing an affidavit of undertaking that he had sent to City Hall. Latest news is that his bag boy and favorite Boy Friday Bong Tortola has said they will do something about the encroachment but still, you can’t see anything done. Worse,  Bali Hotel does not have a building permit, renovation permit and other necessary permits. It doesn’t even have an Environmental Compliance Certificate.

And Mafioso Rommel “Utangero” Ynion and his favorite media mercenary Manuel “Boy Tulisan” Mejorada have the gall to call themselves “graftbusters”?

There’s also the story that Mafioso Ynion’s Stavros restaurants have no business permits aside from having no people eating there. And by the book of shrewd businessman, that is “illegal” too.

Wahahaha!

As Ynion favorite praiser Sammy Julian would say it, “Let’s eat like wildfire!!”

Now, let’s see what Mejorada had to say in the days before he sold his soul to Mafioso Utangero Ynion:

Even Boy Mejorada says its time to bakbak the pader!!!

Stavros: Let’s eat like wildfire!

Maybe this Sammy Julian wants to have an early Christmas. The way he praises Rommel Ynion and his tawo-less Stavros Restaurants is icky. He is promoting Stavros like he is a true gourmet himself, thinking Stavros is authentic.

Ay, Sammy, why don’t you check the BF homes and Alabang branches of Stavros that are pioneer branches and you will be surprised at how you become the lone diner there. But then, you have the extra thrill of possibly bumping into no less than the man himself — the great, the ever ebullient savior of Iloilo City….. tantantaraaannnn….. Rommel “Utangero” Ynion! Good luck!

Now, for the Bong Daza experience of one Sammy Julian, rabid ass-licker of Rommel Ynion for a million and one reasons who will “transport you to another world”. Good luck to your “transporting”:

Situated just beside Starbucks Café at SM City, Stavros welcomes you to its doors with an ambience that suddenly transports you to another world.

The interior is simply but elegantly designed, it makes one feel the ease and comfort of a Mediterranean beach as the wonderful interplay of colors and pictures stimulate the mind to be in its right frame to feast on food that generations of men and women have cooked and bequeathed their formulation to the later breed of chefs who preserved the way their ancestors prepared them.

True enough mixture of modern and ancient ways of cooking food can be found in the delectable, delicate dishes at Stavros. Because it’s only in Stavros where it’s chef and the cooks stick to the rules of good taste, blending spices, salts, cheeses, meats and vegetables in a way it should be done, not a gram less, not a gram more in the making of a perfect Mediterranean salad, poultry, fish, pizza or meat dishes.

Such magical skills produce what they say as heaven in your mouth. A skillful chef, the right ingredients and a thousand days of practice: viola, you have food, glorious food in your presence, served with so much love and a smile at Stavros.

Mediterranean cuisine refers to food and ways of cooking from the different countries bounding the Mediterranean Sea. It is a blending of different cultures and has found a niche in the world of international cuisine because of the uniqueness of the taste and its health benefits.

Garlic and olive oil are the main ingredients plus a combination of spices and herbs that awakens the palate. Grilled meats and fish on a skewer known as the kebab, pita bread are eastern type of the cuisine and all served at Stavros, done in the way it should be done; the right cut, the right temperature and the most careful cooking.

Stavros serves pizza of different kinds, too. The pizza concoctions are different from your usual pizza and eating a piece is just tasty, it makes you beg for more. There is the Margarita, full bodied with mozzarella, and basil; the best seller picollo mondo, so deliciously tempting, and an array of a dozen more pizzas representing different Mediterranean regions.

There are various kinds of soups, entrees that play in your tongue an nostrils, crunchy fresh salads that is a main Mediterranean health fare, and main meat, fish and vegetable dishes.

The kebabs at Stavros just melt in your mouth. You have a selection of fish, chicken, lamb or beef, roasted to perfection with all the vegetable and spices that go with it.

The pita bread and its dips are perfect; the sauces like pepper, yogurt and others are blended so well it compliments whatever food you have in front of you.

For wine lovers, there is always a bottle of red or white wine from its array of fine but affordable wines.

And to top it all, a choice of the sweetest desserts words cannot describe. It’s only at Stavros where you can have all these.

We have tasted all other international cuisines. Here in Iloilo, we have Chinese, Thai, American, Vietnamese, Spanish and our delicious Ilonggo dishes. But it is only at Stavros where you get real, genuine Mediterranean food. And dining at Stavros, which is not expensive at all, is an experience in culinary adventure.

There are two Stavroses in Iloilo. The SM City branch is managed by Ms. Maricar Totola who welcomes with a big smile at Stavros. The other one is located near Amigo Terrace Hotel. Both serve excellent food.

Come to Stavros and be transported to another world./PN
